Eco-friendly mushrooms
Our Eco-friendly organic mushrooms
Weth Mushrooms are an eco-friendly, non-polluting agribusiness. We’ve been growing fresh lion’s mane, shiitake and maitake mushrooms on our organic mushroom farm all year round, for almost 25 years. All our mushrooms are therefore premium 100% Canadian grown, organic grade mushrooms.

Why our organic mushroom products are so fresh
By growing, drying, pulverizing, and packaging all on one site, our 100% Canadian fresh mushrooms, dried mushrooms and powdered mushroom supplements all have an exceptionally low carbon footprint.

Weth Mushroom Farm: eco-friendly and sustainable

All our mushrooms are grown from their original culture into spawn and eventually into a sustainable growing medium that has the precise balance of nutrients for optimum mushroom growth. We replicate the types of trees, structure, and environment that these mushrooms would naturally ideally grow on.
Our growing medium is a mixture of mainly sawdust (a lumber by-product) and a tiny proportion of natural supplement. We source all the ingredients for our growing medium locally and once it’s productive mushroom fruiting is finished, we incorporate into the soil of our land. The carbon release and breakdown of our growing medium is a normal process that would otherwise occur in a natural forest.
To further lower our farm’s carbon footprint and emissions, we utilize sustainable wood biomass heating, heat-pump cooling, along with solar energy. This supplies a significant amount of our hot water and electricity needs. This enables us to keep our mushrooms growing all year-round using renewal energy sources, and without relying on fossil fuels, a goal for the sustainability of our farm.
